Blog 12: Winter photos and a small update

Happy February everybody. Jesse here. February is my birthday month and I am looking forward to my birthday for a few reasons. 1.) Spending it with my DH Media family and 2.) Watching Jurassic Park with my nephew who is watching it for the first time. I am a huge fan and I really hope he likes it…

Earlier in the month, my girlfriend and I utilized the fact that DH Media is a creative company and we had some photos taken. Eric Gervais was our photographer and Teela Airdrie was our Master Poser. It’s been a long time since I have had a photo shoot done that wasn’t headshots. It was a cold afternoon and we decided to use Decew falls as our backdrop. DH Media uses Decew Falls a lot, but it’s a beautiful location with a ton of personality and so many options for shooting. Here are some of my personal favourite photos.

This is hands down my favourite photo. It looks like we bought the mill. The contrast in this wintery scene and a nice smile on my and Melissa’s face is what makes the photo my favourite. Not bad for -15 degrees out, eh? I love winter whites.

This was the last photo we took and I am glad we did. It proves that when it comes to taking photos, taking the time to get that one last shot, that one last pose, that one last set up can be totally worth it.

One of the big things when it comes to taking photos is location, location, location. At Decew falls, there’s this lovely historic house that looks mostly untouched by history. Utilizing the nice natural depth of a porch, with a light snow falling in front of us, Eric was able to capture this wonderful photo, which Melissa declares as her favourite. I love her smile. In a company that deals with telling love stories, I am glad I get to enjoy my own.

Falling in love. Being in love. It's something I dream of, something I want to feel.

As per my last blog, which, was too long ago, I have been working on DH Media full time for a month now with… limited success? I’m an honest person. It isn’t what I expected. I am however staying optimistic. We have new advertising material coming in and I will update you on that soon. I really have to work on these on a weekly basis…

Until we talk again. Next time, I’ll be 27.
